    2014 BIO:

Clay landed on the cover of The Boston Phoenix in 2005 for being the ‘Most Popular Man in Boston’ — according to social networking site MySpace. He has since made a career making social connections online and off by following marketing trends and staying ahead of them. By establishing best practices at Middle East Nightclub (@MidEastClub — verified) for social media, he has set an example there for other businesses, venues and independent promoters in town.

When not working in various roles for popular Boston bands, Clay also runs social media for band clients and fine artists. You may find his comic book and pop culture news columns on local and national websites. When comic book conventions roll into town, Clay is asked to moderate panels of top industry talent or can be found scouring the quarter bins for lost comic book gems.

Clay N. Ferno is a social media and music-business professional living in Boston. He contributes comic book, movies and pop culture columns to 13th Dimension, Forces Of Geek! and DigBoston. He has been a part of the comic-book podcasting community since 2009 with his friends at

Clay spends his time producing concerts and book-signing events when he’s not chasing a deadline or stopping by convention tables to chat up his comic-book creator heroes and showing off his Arashikage tattoo! Follow Clay on Twitter (@claynferno) or visit his site at

General Manager and Publicist for The Middle East Nightclub in Cambridge, MA and comic book podcaster, Web2.0 marketer, food blogger, twitter addict, & music lover (mostly indie, punk, and hip hop!).

Clay grew up on the South Shore of Boston, MA and graduated in with a B.F.A. from the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) from Mass Art in 1998, with a minor in video. The SIM program is a unique learning experience that accommodates any kind of medium; performance art, visual art, event production, graphic design, and encourages creative collaboration. Clay’s focus on event production and spoken word performance followed him after his education, where he spoke on a national tour with Duncan Wilder Johnson & Rich Mackin. The ‘on Tour Without a Band’ crew opened for the legendary late writer Jim Carroll (Basketball Diaries). He has honed his onstage presence over the years fronting his current band, Wild Zero. In July of 2005, The Boston Phoenix put his face on the cover of it’s paper, posing the question “Is this the Most Popular Man in Boston? – 3493 myspace friends can’t be wrong.” This was followed up by a Fox 25 News story featuring Phoenix staff writer Camille Dodero and N.Ferno a year later.

Clay wears many hats at his nightclub job at the Middle East in Cambridge, not least of all is employing the latest web technology to club promotion and publicity. He continues to write and review bands, and likes sci-fi, comic books, loud guitars, grilling, and drinks more milkshakes than you.
